More than 78 percent of Americans made New Year’s Resolutions this year. A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology focused on the effects of sitting on the health of more than 120,000 people for more than 13 years. For men, those who sat more than six hours a day were 48 percent more likely to die than those who sat fewer than three hours a day. For women, the likelihood of death was an incredible 94 percent higher!
So how much time do you spend sitting? 86 percent of Americans sit all day at their jobs. Add in the time you spend sitting down while watching TV, driving and eating and the number increases rapidly.
What’s the solution? Many companies are giving their employees the option of working at a height adjustable sit stand desk.
